Where will you be at midnight?
Now that you've recovered from Christmas (and the snooze fest that was the Mayan apocalypse), it's time to welcome the new year.
And there are a number of parties, celebrations and bashes around town and beyond from which to choose.
If you're not heading to Eastover's Flea Drop, here's a roundup of New Year's Eve events for your perusal. All events are Monday unless otherwise noted.
Huske Hardware: The downtown eatery and nightspot will host its fifth annual New Year's Eve Bash beginning at 10 p.m. The festivities include a balloon drop and champagne toast at midnight as the live feed from Times Square plays on the big screens. There will be a DJ and dancing, party favors and drink specials. The cover charge is $20 per person. Huske also will host a New Year's Eve Weekend Celebration tonight, Saturday, Sunday and Monday - minus the midnight countdown and ball drop. A dinner special for two is $49.99 and includes a choice of 10-ounce New York strip or 8-ounce salmon filet, a side, dessert and a glass of house wine or champagne. Pierro's Italian Bistro and Sky Lounge: Things at the swanky Sky Lounge will get heated up this New Year's Eve with a DJ, dancing, party favors and a champagne toast at midnight. Admission is $10 at the door, $5 in advance. 217 Hay St. 678-8885, pierrositalianbistro.com or Facebook.
The Rock Shop: The downtown music venue's New Year's Eve Bash will feature performances by Schmegma, A Breath Forgotten and Smashed Alley. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $7. 128 S. King St. 321-7625 or therockshoplive.com or Facebook.
Club Barcelona: The club will put on a New Year's Bash featuring a live ball drop at midnight and indoor fireworks. SpeakEasy Nightclub: The club will feature live entertainment and party favors in the cigar and martini bar. Doors open at 8 p.m.; there is no cover charge. In the adjacent nightclub, doors open at 10 p.m. There will be party favors, a choice of moscato or champagne and a surprise at midnight. Club Hellas: Both levels of the club will ring in 2013 at Club Hellas in Hope Mills. The Several Devils band will perform in the sports bar downstairs to rock in the new year, while the upstairs night club will feature dance music from DJ Serg Sniper, as well as a champagne toast and live feed from Times Square on the big screen. VIP guests also will enjoy a champagne toast and free appetizers. There's a dress to impress dress code. VIP tickets (they include a limited buffet) are $50. VIA 216: The club will have two rooms of music: one for hip-hop and R&B and one for Latin music. There will be a balloon drop and a midnight champagne toast. Holiday Inn Bordeaux: The hotel will have a New Year's Eve party from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. featuring two floors of old school and hip-hop entertainment and a champagne toast for $20 per person. An early-bird breakfast will be offered from 2 to 11 a.m. for $8.95. 1707 Owen Drive. 323-0111.
Big Shots Entertainment Sports Bar & Grill: The club, now known as Big Shots 2 at its new home at 3138 Raeford Road, will host a New Year's Eve party with drink specials, a DJ, dancing, champagne toast and a $500 balloon drop at midnight. Big Harry's Tavern: Local rock band Fahrenheit will perform as part of the tavern's New Year's Eve bash. The evening will get started at 7 p.m., with the band starting at 9 p.m., and will include party favors, snacks, a champagne toast and breakfast. Gilbert Theater: The theater will have a New Year's Eve party reception after the 9:30 p.m. performance of "Life As We Know It." Drinks and light hors d'oeuvres will be served through intermission. After the show, the theater will host a party and meet-and-greet session with playwright Elaine Alexander. Circa 1800: The downtown Fayetteville restaurant is accepting reservations at 5, 5:30, 7, 7:30, 9 and 9:30 p.m. A three-course "surf and turf" menu for $39.95 features salad, choice of crab-stuffed rainbow trout, prosciutto-wrapped chicken or boursin cheese-stuffed petite filet and shrimp scampi, and pumpkin crepes or molten chocolate lava torts. Luigi's Italian Restaurant: The restaurant will have a special menu including seared scallops wrapped with prosciutto ham, lobster ravioli, Chilean sea bass and Tuscan wild boar ragu. Sherefé: The Mediterranean restaurant downtown will have a special multi-course New Year's Eve menu that includes two glasses of champagne. There also will be a live band, dancing and belly dancer performances from 7 p.m. to midnight. It's $120 for two. Reservations required. Southern Pines: Downtown Southern Pines will host First Eve from 6 to 8 p.m. and will feature live music, carnival games, singing contests, face painting and the countdown to the pinecone drop at 8 p.m. Admission is free. 910-692-7376 or 910-692-2361.
FireAntz Hockey: The FireAntz take on the Columbus Cottonmouths at the Crown Coliseum at 6 p.m. A "ring in the new year" cowbell giveaway is scheduled. Round-a-Bout Skating: A New Year's Eve skate is 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. The $15 admission includes skates, party favors for the kids, countdown to midnight and a balloon drop. B&B Bowling Lanes: Unlimited bowling is featured from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. for $20 per person. Includes unlimited bowling, shoe rental, a free first drink, light and sound show, midnight toast, party favors and balloon drop. A kids' event is from 6 to 8 p.m. Includes party favors and a ball drop. Cost is $40 per lane for up to five bowlers per lane. Additional bowlers cost $10. Pinehurst Resort: The resort features a New Year's Eve celebration for $239 per person. It includes accommodations, dinner in the Carolina Dining Room, music by the Band of Oz, champagne toast, party favors, midnight breakfast buffet, Southern-style breakfast buffet and a 4 p.m. late check-out. First Night Raleigh: The annual celebration begins at 2 p.m. New Year's Eve and continues until midnight. It includes performances in 28 indoor and outdoor venues throughout downtown Raleigh. There will be an early afternoon children's celebration and early and late New Year's countdowns and acorn drop. Delta Rae, a gospel, bluegrass and blues band, will be the headliner. Admission buttons are $9 in advance and are available at Raleigh Harris Teeters and Etix. The day of the event, buttons are $10 for children ages 6 to 12 and $12 for adults. Wilmington: Cape Fear Riverboats is offering a New Year's Eve cruise on the Henrietta III. Boarding begins at 8 p.m. at 101 S. Water St. and the cruise lasts until just after midnight. The $85 cost includes hot and cold heavy hors d'oeuvres, a DJ, party favors and a champagne toast at midnight. Includes tax and gratuity. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
