'Scrubs' ends season--for good?
"SCRUBS"
Bill Lawrence, the creator of "Scrubs," recently told E! Online that he senses the end is near for his long-running dramedy. Now, this is a feeling Lawrence knows well. "Scrubs" has been on the cusp of renewal practically every season. The show even got saved by another network, ABC, when NBC dumped it. This gave Lawrence the chance to give fans proper closure. But then ABC decided we needed yet another season of "Scrubs," with a twist: medical school! Longtime readers know I've been a fan of "Scrubs" for years, but I never got into this new incarnation. Some of the new characters were more miss than hit. Not having the show revolve around J.D. (Zach Braff) didn't work for me. I appreciate the humor Dr. Turk (Donald Faison) and Dr. Cox (John C. McGinley) brought each week. But it's possible they're ready to move on, too. Faison, for starters, has been cast in a CBS pilot. Sarah Chalke, who played Dr. Reid, has been cast in an ABC pilot. The signs aren't good, folks, but I'm OK with tonight's episode being the last new "Scrubs." Even Lawrence agrees. "In my heart and head, I felt like Scrubs ended last year," Lawrence told E! "This year was a bit of a spinoff, but I really liked it, I liked what they did. They worked really hard." Of course, Lawrence still has his "Cougar Town," (9:30 p.m.) which will be back next year, if you're looking for your weekly fix of zaniness. 8 p.m. ABC
"SOUTH PARK"
It should come as no surprise that "South Park" is going to tackle the Tiger Woods scandal. In the premiere of the 14th season tonight, the "South Park" kids run into Woods in their town. The rest of the plot is pretty hush-hush, but know that the affairs will be confronted head on. 10 p.m. Comedy Central
MUST-SEE TV?
And in the most interesting reality show news of the day, Mike Tyson will be in a new show on - wait for it - Animal Planet. Yep, seems that the boxer will be filmed as he learns the fiercely competitive sport of pigeon racing. I know. You'd like to think this is an April Fool's joke, but it's not. Tyson, The Associated Press reports, has raised pigeons for years.
